Naturally, after the staff Christmas party yesterday comes the inevitable consequence: mortification as the memories return, regret for accepting that last drink and the relentless agony of a blinding hangover.
Help was always at hand from the Consett Iron Company Magazine, however! From giblet soup to sea bathing, the list of cures in 1960 is varied and eclectic. I suspect Lipton’s were clean out of young swallows beaks and myrrh during the 1950s and 1960s, so the people in this photo from the CIC Garage staff Christmas party in 1960 would have had to settle for a couple of aspirin and a large glass of water .
