A Talk on life on the Consett Area Railways by ex guard Steve Shields

11am start at Consett Bowls Club in Consett and Blackhill park


Thanks to the committee of Consett Bowls Club we will be holding this event in their clubhouse with refreshments available.

We will be asking for small donation (suggested £3) to support future events by the History of Consett Steelworks project

  1. Good Morning, Thank you for all your interesting messages. I was an office boy in the welding shop office in 1955, an apprentice electrician between 1956 an 1961, and in the power station between 1961 and 1965 when I left to train as a teacher becoming an education adviser and then inspector of schools throughout the Channel Islands. I finally retired in 2008 and have lived in Jersey for the last 51 years. Can you let me have a name and address to enable me to send a cheque as a donation for your good work?
